The Marathi actress has worked across Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema. She has also appeared in several OTT series, earning recognition for her performances. However, one incident from her professional life had a significant impact on her personal life after an intimate scene from a film was leaked and went viral.
Radhika Apte recently spoke to India Today about that period of her life and recalled how difficult it became for her to even leave her home. Speaking about the leaked scene, she said it happened while she was shooting an intimate scene for a film.
“We were talking about the freedom to do intimate scenes. But when I did that scene, it went hugely viral. It got to the point where I was afraid to even come home. I could barely leave my house for about four days. Once the clip went viral, even people around me kept watching it,” Radhika Apte said.
She also recalled how her stylist told her that the driver would repeatedly watch the leaked clip and would keep asking whether she was the actress’s stylist and whether she went to her home.
Radhika further said that the watchman of her building also kept watching the clip. According to the actress, the incident spread so widely that she became constantly concerned about the safety of her family.
“I still remember my stylist telling me that her driver kept watching the clip. He would keep asking her, ‘You go to her house, right?’ The watchman in my building also kept watching the clip. It had spread so much that I started constantly worrying about the safety of my family,” she said.
The actress said that, out of frustration, she directly asked her spot dada and driver whether they had watched the clip. She told them that if they had not seen it, they could watch it and leave their jobs if they wanted to.
Instead, they supported her and assured her that they would take care of her and make sure she remained safe. Their response gave Radhika some confidence during the difficult period.
“They told me, ‘We will take care of you. We will see how you can stay safe,’ and that gave me a little courage,” she said.
During the interview, Radhika Apte also spoke about another project that she had strongly wanted to work on. However, she chose not to accept the project because of the political environment at the time. She said she rejected it because she was concerned about the safety of her family.
The revelations highlight how the leak of an intimate scene from a professional project extended beyond Radhika Apte’s work and affected her personal life, including her sense of safety and decisions about future projects.
