S. Dinesh Kumar Elected Unopposed as TNPL Governing Council Chairman
S. Dinesh Kumar has been appointed TNPL Governing Council Chairman after being elected unopposed alongside V. V. Sankapani, marking a shift from nomination to an electoral process for the two positions.
The appointment marks a change in the process of constituting the TNPL Governing Council, with its two positions now being filled through an electoral process rather than nomination.
The TNCA's General Elections for the 2025–2028 term were held in November 2025, when the association's key office-bearer positions were decided. At that time, the TNPL Governing Council continued to be constituted through nomination. Mr. S. Balakrishna and Mr. Yusuf Y. Laila served on the Council for the 2025–26 season.
Mr. Dinesh Kumar brings extensive experience in cricket and cricket administration in Tamil Nadu. He has previously served as a member of the TNPL Governing Council and as a Tamil Nadu age-group selector for the Under-19, Under-14 and Under-12 teams. He has also served on the TNCA League Sub-Committee for approximately five years.
His experience across these roles has provided him with exposure to different aspects of Tamil Nadu's cricketing ecosystem, including player development, team selection and league administration.
As Chairman, Mr. Dinesh Kumar will lead the Governing Council as the TNPL continues its efforts to strengthen its sporting structure, player development and administration. The league also aims to expand its commercial potential and strengthen its position within Indian domestic cricket.
With the election process complete, Mr. S. Dinesh Kumar and Mr. V. V. Sankapani will serve as members of the TNPL Governing Council, with Mr. Dinesh Kumar assuming the chairmanship following the TNCA Annual General Meeting held on September 27, 2026.
