Truecaller Launches Scam Checker to Help Users Detect Fraudulent Links, Numbers and Messages
Truecaller has launched Scam Checker on its website and Android app, allowing users to examine suspicious links, phone numbers and scam reports. Discover how the new platform aims to help people assess potential fraud.
The new service allows users to check suspicious web links, search phone numbers, explore scam reports submitted by other people and understand potential fraud attempts before deciding how to respond. By consolidating these capabilities into a single experience, Truecaller aims to make it easier for people to investigate suspicious messages and identify possible warning signs within seconds.
Through Truecaller Scam Checker, users can examine links for indications that they may be malicious or associated with phishing attempts. They can also look up phone numbers to review what Truecaller’s detection systems and community signals indicate about them. The platform additionally provides access to Scamfeed reports, enabling users to search for similar scams described by other people.
Users can also describe their concerns in their own words and receive relevant results. These may include checks on links or phone numbers mentioned in their queries, along with related reports from the community. This approach brings together three common elements of suspicious communications: a phone number, a link and a story. Users can investigate all three through the same platform in seconds.
Truecaller also plans to expand Scam Checker in the near future. The proposed enhancements include broader coverage of scam techniques, screenshot uploads for more detailed analysis, user authentication and additional capabilities.
“People often sense that something is wrong, but they need a quick way to check before responding,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller. “Scam Checker brings together our detection capabilities and what our community has reported so that people can investigate a suspicious link, number or story in one place.”
Truecaller Scam Checker is launching in India through the Android app, with additional regions expected to follow. The service is also available globally through the Truecaller website at https://www.truecaller.com/scam-checker. Availability in additional markets and support for iOS are planned for a later date.
Truecaller is an essential part of everyday communication for 500 million active users worldwide and has recorded more than one billion downloads since its launch. The company identified 68 billion spam and fraud calls in 2025 alone. Headquartered in Stockholm, Truecaller is a member of the GSMA and has been publicly listed on Nasdaq Stockholm since October 2021.
With its new Scam Checker platform, Truecaller is bringing link analysis, phone number searches and community-reported scam information into a single destination, giving users another way to assess suspicious communications before taking action.
