Mumbai-Vadodara Section of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Likely to Open by August 31, Travel Time to Be Halved
The Mumbai-Vadodara section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to open by August 31, reducing travel time between the two cities from nearly eight hours to about four hours. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed the proposed timeline as work on the final construction packages nears completion.
According to available information, the Mumbai-Vadodara stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is nearing completion and is likely to be opened for traffic from August 31. The operational section will provide seamless connectivity between Gujarat and Mumbai's Jawaharlal Nehru Port, improving transportation efficiency for commuters and freight movement.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed the proposed timeline, stating that the government plans to make the section operational by August 31. After its inauguration, motorists will be able to travel on the 157-kilometre stretch of the expressway.
The opening of this section is expected to deliver substantial time savings for travelers. At present, the journey between Mumbai and Vadodara takes nearly eight hours. Once the expressway becomes operational, the same journey is expected to be completed in approximately four hours, cutting travel time by half.
According to available information, the Mumbai-Vadodara section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is being developed in seven construction packages. Work on five packages has already been completed, while the remaining two packages are expected to be finished by August. Following the completion of all seven packages, the expressway section is expected to be opened for public use.
The operationalisation of the Mumbai-Vadodara stretch will mark a significant milestone in the development of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, enhancing connectivity between two major economic hubs and strengthening transport infrastructure while substantially reducing travel time.
