Blue Dart marks 30 years of aviation operations, strengthening its leadership in India’s express logistics sector. With over 2.15 lakh flights and 20.5 lakh tonnes of cargo handled since 1996, the company highlights its role in time-definite delivery, COVID-19 supply support, and future-focused aviation expansion across India’s growing logistics ecosystem.
Over the past three decades, Blue Dart’s aviation operations have become a critical backbone of its time-definite delivery services, supporting key sectors including life sciences, banking and financial services, manufacturing, automobiles, e-commerce, and small and medium enterprises. This network has played a pivotal role in enhancing supply chain resilience across the country and ensuring efficient movement of goods across diverse markets.
The company’s air operations have achieved significant scale, supporting more than 2.15 lakh flights and handling over 20.5 lakh tonnes of air cargo during this period. These figures reflect the operational consistency, reliability, and expansive reach of Blue Dart’s air express network, supported by a dedicated ecosystem of pilots, engineers, operations personnel, safety teams, security staff, and support teams whose collective efforts have sustained service excellence for three decades.
Blue Dart’s aviation capability has also played a vital role during national emergencies, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it facilitated the transportation of vaccines, personal protective equipment kits, and other essential medical supplies across the country. This contribution strengthened critical supply chains during a period of unprecedented demand and disruption.
As India progresses toward its vision of becoming a 5 trillion United States dollar economy, Blue Dart continues to position its aviation network as a key driver of air cargo growth, faster goods movement, and stronger logistics infrastructure across the nation.
Commenting on the milestone, Balfour Manuel, Managing Director of Blue Dart Express Limited, stated that the aviation capability has been central to the company’s time-definite delivery promise, enabling next-day and under-24-hour delivery services across India. Today, Blue Dart operates a dedicated fleet of eight Boeing 737 and 757 cargo freighters, forming an essential component of its integrated logistics network. This fleet has supported the movement of millions of shipments and enabled faster access to markets across metropolitan regions as well as emerging growth centers across India.
