In an official statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, clarified that the video is being deliberately recirculated with misleading captions capable of creating panic and confusion among residents. The Command warned that the continued dissemination of outdated security-related content could generate unnecessary anxiety and undermine efforts aimed at maintaining public safety and order.
The police urged members of the public to disregard the footage and refrain from sharing unverified information concerning security matters. According to the statement, the circulation of misleading content poses a threat to public confidence and can negatively affect ongoing security operations.
Reassuring residents, the Ogun State Police Command stated that the state remains safe, peaceful, and secure. It emphasized that security agencies are working diligently to safeguard lives and property throughout the state and remain committed to preserving law and order.
The Command further encouraged residents to continue their lawful activities without fear and called on the public to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information through appropriate channels.
To strengthen emergency response efforts, the police also provided several contact options, including the Gateway Shield toll-free line and other dedicated emergency response numbers available to residents.
Reaffirming its commitment to sustaining peace and public safety, the Ogun State Police Command stressed that it will continue combating misinformation and taking necessary measures to prevent the spread of false narratives capable of disrupting public confidence and security across the state.
