Kerala Horror: Toddler Found With 51 Injury Marks, Mother and Live-In Partner Arrested for Murder
A tragic case from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram has shocked the nation after a post-mortem examination of a one-and-a-half-year-old child revealed 51 injury marks. Police arrested the child's mother and her live-in partner on murder charges as investigators probe allegations of prolonged abuse, fractures, burn injuries, and a disturbing pattern of cruelty.
The deceased child, identified as Arshid, allegedly endured repeated assaults at the hands of his mother, Akhila, and her partner, Ashkar. According to police, the post-mortem report documented numerous old and fresh injuries, strengthening suspicions that the toddler had been subjected to sustained abuse over an extended period.
The incident came to light when Ashkar brought the child to a hospital and informed doctors that Arshid had vomited after consuming food and water and that his condition had suddenly deteriorated. He claimed the child lost consciousness shortly afterward. The toddler was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to SAT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where doctors declared him dead.
During the medical examination, doctors noticed multiple suspicious injuries across the child's body. Several wounds appeared old and were in different stages of healing, while others were recent. The findings prompted authorities to launch an in-depth investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child's death.
The child's maternal grandparents have also made serious allegations. Family members stated that the child showed no signs of injury while living with them and that his condition steadily worsened after he went to live with his mother. The grandmother alleged that the toddler's arms had previously been fractured on two separate occasions, incidents that had been explained away as accidental falls.
Relatives further claimed that circular burn marks were visible on the child's body. According to family members, the marks resembled injuries caused by cigarette burns. They alleged that there was hardly any part of the child's body that did not bear signs of injury.
Meanwhile, disturbing allegations have also emerged regarding Ashkar's past conduct. Members of his first wife's family claimed that he had a history of domestic violence and had previously subjected his former spouse to severe physical abuse. They alleged that she required prolonged hospital treatment following repeated assaults.
Police have registered a case against Akhila and Ashkar under charges including murder. Both accused are currently being interrogated as investigators examine every aspect of the case. Authorities stated that further action will be based on the post-mortem report, forensic evidence, and witness testimonies collected during the investigation.
The case has sparked widespread concern due to the severity of the injuries allegedly inflicted on the toddler. As investigators continue to uncover details surrounding Arshid's death, the incident has raised serious questions about child protection and the prolonged abuse that authorities believe may have preceded the fatal outcome.
