Bihar CLAT Aspirant Found Dead in Patna Hostel, Police Launch Detailed Investigation
A 17-year-old CLAT aspirant from Samastipur was found dead in her hostel room in Patna's Secretariat Colony. Police have launched a detailed investigation, seized her mobile phone, and called forensic experts. No suicide note was recovered, while officials await forensic and post-mortem findings to determine the exact circumstances of the death.
The deceased had been residing at Radhe Krishna Hostel, located under the jurisdiction of Patrakar Nagar Police Station, since 2024 while preparing for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). According to hostel warden Abha Singh, the student followed her normal routine on Monday night and had dinner before retiring to her room. The warden stated that there were no visible signs in her behaviour that suggested she might take such an extreme step.
Describing the student as quiet and reserved, the warden said she had recently returned to Patna after spending some time in her native village following the completion of a study module.
During the preliminary investigation, police learned that shortly before the incident, the student had an emotional telephone conversation with a friend. According to an official, she was crying during the call. The friend reportedly attempted to console her, urging her not to take any harmful action and advising her to return home and stay with her parents. The student allegedly replied that even her parents were not speaking to her.
Fellow residents of the hostel also informed investigators that she had appeared distressed over the past several days, raising concerns about the emotional difficulties she may have been experiencing before her death.
Police personnel reached the hostel immediately after receiving information about the incident on Tuesday morning and initiated an extensive investigation. The Station House Officer of Patrakar Nagar Police Station stated that no suicide note had been recovered from the room. The student's mobile phone has been seized for detailed examination, while a forensic team has been called to inspect the scene and collect evidence.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the deceased student's family members have been informed about the incident.
Officials said the exact cause and circumstances of the death will become clearer after the completion of the forensic analysis and post-mortem report. The tragic death of the young CLAT aspirant has drawn attention to the emotional pressures faced by students preparing for competitive examinations, as investigators continue to examine all aspects of the case.
