Six Women Killed, Eight Injured in Fatal Highway Collision in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha

Six women were killed and eight injured in a devastating highway accident in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district after a speeding private bus rammed into a van. The victims, part of a catering team travelling for an event, were struck on National Highway 48, raising concerns over road safety.

 

Sabarkantha: In a tragic road accident on Wednesday, six women lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries after a private bus rammed into a van on a highway in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district, police officials confirmed.

The collision occurred on National Highway 48, which links Shamlaji to Himmatnagar. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police A K Patel, the van, carrying a group of women, was struck from behind by a speeding private bus.

The victims were part of a catering team engaged in providing services for social events. They were travelling from Modasa in the neighbouring Aravalli district to Hunj village in Himmatnagar to attend a function when the accident took place.

Police confirmed that six women passengers in the van died as a result of the crash. Seven other women and the van driver suffered injuries in the incident. Emergency services rushed the injured to the Himmatnagar Civil Hospital for treatment.

Medical officer Dr Dhrupad Chauhan stated that the condition of two of the injured remains critical, raising concerns over the possibility of further fatalities.
