DOT School of Design Students Achieve Major Success at TN Skills and IndiaSkills, Secure Medals and WorldSkills Qualification

DOT School of Design students achieved outstanding success at TN Skills and IndiaSkills competitions, securing Gold and Bronze medals across categories and qualifying for WorldSkills. The journey highlights structured training, industry-aligned education, and strong faculty mentorship enabling students to excel from state to global design platforms.

DOT School of Design, one of the leading design institutions in Chennai dedicated to fostering innovation in design education, has announced the exceptional performance of its students across the TN Skills and IndiaSkills competitions, marking a significant milestone in their progression from state-level recognition to the global stage.

The achievement journey involved multiple competitive stages, with all participating students from DOT School of Design successfully clearing TN Skills, a state-level initiative conducted by the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation. The cohort subsequently secured two Gold Medals and one Bronze Medal at the TN Skills Regional Competition, followed by a Gold Medal at the IndiaSkills National Competition.

At TN Skills, Reshma J and Rudra JS were awarded ₹25,000 each, while Insiya M Dhorajiwala received ₹10,000. The awards were presented by Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, in recognition of their performance at the state level and to encourage young talent in skill-based disciplines.

At the IndiaSkills Regional Competition, Reshma J secured a Gold Medal in Digital Interactive Media, Rudra JS won Gold in Industrial Design Technology, and Insiya M Dhorajiwala earned a Bronze Medal in Graphic Design Technology. Continuing this success at the national level, Reshma J secured the Gold Medal in Digital Interactive Media at the IndiaSkills National Competition and has qualified to represent India at the prestigious WorldSkills Competition.

The multi-stage competition framework, spanning TN Skills to IndiaSkills regionals and nationals, evaluated participants on concept development, technical execution, and presentation under time-bound and high-pressure conditions aligned with industry standards. Students were assessed on their ability to convert ideas into practical solutions, demonstrate precision in execution, and present outcomes effectively before expert juries.

The competitions also provided exposure to real-world challenges, encouraging critical thinking, innovation, and adaptability to evolving design requirements. From ideation and prototyping to final execution, each stage demanded discipline, creativity, and advanced technical proficiency.

Faculty members at DOT School of Design played a crucial role throughout the process, providing structured training, technical mentorship, mock evaluations, and continuous feedback to ensure competition readiness at every stage. The institution’s emphasis on hands-on learning and industry-aligned training enabled students to approach each level with confidence.

Dr. AR R Raammnath, Chairman of DOT School of Design, stated, “Our goal is to create an environment where students can apply their learning beyond the classroom. Platforms like TN Skills and IndiaSkills provide the right exposure for them to test their abilities, understand industry expectations, and grow into confident professionals ready for global opportunities.”

Winning at the national level and moving on to WorldSkills is a proud milestone in my journey.” Rudra JS and Insiya M Dhorajiwala also highlighted the learning and exposure gained through the competitions.
