Brutal Assault in Delhi Over Payment Dispute Leaves Man Maimed; Separate Domestic Killing Reported in Uttar Pradesh
A brutal payment dispute in Delhi’s Vijay Enclave leaves a man critically injured after a grinder attack, while a separate domestic violence incident in Moradabad results in a woman’s death. Police have arrested the accused and launched investigations into both shocking cases.
According to officials, a Police Control Room call was received on April 24 at approximately 8:30 p.m., reporting that a man’s hands had allegedly been cut using a grinder by several known individuals. Police personnel from Dabri Police Station immediately rushed to the scene and found the victim, Lokesh Gupta, a resident of Vijay Enclave, who works as a confectioner and tent service provider.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, Ajay Pal, aged 53, had hired Gupta’s tent services for his daughter’s wedding held on April 20 for a total amount of Rs 2.5 lakh. When Gupta approached Ajay Pal to collect the remaining payment, the accused, along with two to three associates, allegedly launched a brutal attack on him and attempted to sever his hands using a grinder.
The injured man was initially taken to Rashi Medical Centre and was later referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for advanced treatment. Medical examination confirmed that he had sustained grievous injuries caused by a sharp weapon.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Dabri Police Station. The main accused has been arrested, while two juveniles involved in the incident have been detained. Further investigation is currently underway.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), Kushal Pal Singh, stated that strict action is being taken and that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated.
In a separate and equally disturbing incident, a 35-year-old woman was killed by her husband in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, following repeated arguments over her visits to a gym.
The accused, Shobhit Gupta, a scrap dealer from the Katghar area, allegedly struck his wife, Poonam Gupta, on the head with an iron shutter handle on Wednesday morning, resulting in her death. According to police, Poonam had just returned home from the gym when an argument broke out between the couple. The dispute intensified, and in a fit of rage, Shobhit attacked her with the metal rod.
Following the killing, the accused placed her body on the bed and remained inside the house for nearly seven hours, attempting to stage the incident as an accident.
Both incidents underscore a disturbing pattern of extreme violence triggered by personal disputes, raising serious concerns about escalating aggression and lawlessness in domestic and financial conflicts.
