KL Rahul Scripts Historic 152, Registers Highest T20 Score by an Indian in IPL Masterclass*
KL Rahul smashes an unbeaten 152 in IPL at Arun Jaitley Stadium, setting the highest T20 score by an Indian. He surpasses Tilak Varma’s 151 and becomes the first Indian to score 150+ in IPL history in a record-breaking innings under extreme heat conditions.
Rahul’s remarkable knock surpassed the previous Indian record of 151, set by Tilak Varma for Hyderabad during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in November 2024. With this innings, Rahul also became the first Indian cricketer to score 150 or more in a single IPL innings. Overall, his effort ranks as the third-highest individual score in the history of the tournament.
Displaying exceptional endurance and control, Rahul carried his bat through the innings. However, the toll of batting in extreme Delhi heat became evident during Punjab Kings’ chase, as he had to leave the field, with Tristan Stubbs stepping in to take over wicketkeeping responsibilities.
Speaking after theinnings, Rahul emphasized his disciplined approach at the crease. He stated that he focused on playing proper cricket shots during the initial phase of his innings, which he described as his core strength. He explained that for the first 70 to 80 runs, he avoided premeditated strokes and instead concentrated on finding boundaries and building pressure on the bowlers.
Rahul added that only in the latter stages of the innings did he begin to premeditate his shots. He maintained that trusting his natural game and relying on technically sound strokes was key to pushing his team’s total beyond the 250-run mark.
This innings not only redefined individual excellence in the IPL but also marked a significant milestone in Indian T20 cricket, underlining KL Rahul’s stature as one of the premier batters in the format.
