Kanpur Institute of Technology Students Stage Protest Over Sudden Exam Centre Change

Students at Kanpur Institute of Technology protested after discovering their exam centre was shifted outside the campus without prior notice. With exams ten days away, the sudden change sparked anger and concerns over logistics, prompting calls for clearer communication from institute authorities.

Students at the Kanpur Institute of Technology in Uttar Pradesh staged a heated protest on Wednesday after learning that their upcoming examination centre had been shifted outside the campus without prior notice. The demonstration took place in the Maharajpur police station area, where the institute is located, drawing a large crowd of agitated students who accused the administration of keeping them uninformed about the decision.

According to the protesting students, the sudden change in venue blindsided them, leaving many concerned about travel, safety and scheduling inconveniences ahead of the examinations, which are still ten days away. Several students claimed that had the institute communicated the change earlier, they would have been better prepared to manage the logistical challenges.

The unrest prompted heightened attention within the campus premises, though no untoward incident was reported. While officials have not issued a detailed clarification, students continue to demand that the institute reconsider the decision or provide a satisfactory explanation for the abrupt shift in exam arrangements.

The protest underscores the tensions that can arise when academic institutions alter crucial examination-related procedures without timely communication, highlighting the need for transparency and better coordination to prevent disruptions as students prepare for high-stakes assessments.
