Venkanna was on duty as part of the arrangements for the Ganesh immersion when the incident occurred near Crane No. 2 on NTR Marg. He was initially rushed to a hospital after sustaining injuries that appeared to be minor.
His condition later deteriorated, and he was taken to MGM Hospital in Warangal, where he died.

A 55-year-old sub-inspector posted at Kothagudem Two Town police station died after a two-wheeler hit him while he was crossing the road at Tank Bund during Ganesh immersion duty.

Police have registered a hit-and-run case in connection with the incident. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and track the rider who fled the scene after the collision.
The death has left Venkanna’s colleagues mourning his loss as police personnel continue to face the risks involved in managing large festival crowds and immersion arrangements.
