Fiancée and Alleged Lover Arrested in Pune Businessman's Fort Gorge Murder Case
Pune Police have arrested businessman Ketan Agarwal's fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, after reclassifying his fatal gorge fall as murder. Investigators cited CCTV footage, extensive call records, and an alleged earlier failed attack as evidence in a case that has shocked two prominent families.
According to Pune Police, 26-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal died on June 18 after falling approximately 300 to 400 feet into a gorge near a fort. Following an extensive investigation, authorities concluded that the death was not accidental and formally registered the case as a homicide.
Police arrested Agarwal's 20-year-old fiancée, Siya Goyal, along with her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary. Investigators allege that the two conspired to kill Agarwal and deliberately pushed him into the gorge.
The investigation reportedly uncovered several pieces of evidence that raised suspicion. CCTV footage allegedly showed Chaudhary wearing a hooded sweatshirt despite temperatures reaching 33 degrees Celsius, a detail investigators considered unusual. Authorities also examined thousands of intimate telephone conversations exchanged between Goyal and Chaudhary, which reportedly indicated a close relationship between the two.
Investigators further revealed that an earlier attempt to kill Agarwal may have taken place four days before his death. According to police findings, Agarwal survived that alleged attempt after managing to grab a bush when he was reportedly pushed toward the edge. The incident did not result in his death, but investigators now believe it formed part of a larger conspiracy.
The case has also exposed tensions surrounding the couple's upcoming marriage. Agarwal and Goyal, both belonging to prominent families, were preparing for an elaborate wedding ceremony. However, investigators claim that Goyal was reluctant to proceed with the marriage. Police allege that she tore her passport to avoid joining a planned trip to Bali and to create delays in the wedding arrangements.
The arrests have left both families devastated. Agarwal's mother, who reportedly treated Goyal like a daughter, has publicly demanded the harshest possible punishment for those accused in her son's death. She has called for life imprisonment for both suspects.
As the investigation continues, the case has drawn significant public attention due to the alleged betrayal, the planned wedding, and the circumstances surrounding the young businessman's death. The homicide investigation is expected to remain under close scrutiny as legal proceedings move forward and authorities seek to establish the full sequence of events leading to the fatal fall.
