According to details emerging from the case, Ghulam Hussain filed a petition before the Lahore High Court alleging that Shabnam Bibi was being forcibly held by members of her previous family. During the court proceedings, Shabnam Bibi stated before the bench that she had married Ghulam Hussain of her own free will and expressed her desire to live with him.
Taking her statement into consideration, the court ruled in her favor and granted permission for her to leave with her husband. Following the decision, Shabnam Bibi and Ghulam Hussain exited the court premises together.
The viral video shows a highly emotional scene outside the courtroom where Shabnam Bibi’s eight daughters surrounded her, crying and pleading with her not to leave. Despite their repeated requests, she continued walking away without responding. One of the daughters has claimed that their mother did not even acknowledge their presence during the moment of separation.
