Vaibhav Suryavanshi Viral Video Exposed as Fake; Harsha Bhogle Condemns Deepfake Clip Targeting Teen Sensation
IPL 2026 Orange Cap winner Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the subject of a viral deepfake video that falsely portrayed him as disrespectful toward Virat Kohli and commentator Harsha Bhogle. Bhogle has publicly dismissed the clip as fake, calling it a cruel attempt to damage the reputation of the 15-year-old cricket sensation.
The controversial clip allegedly showed Suryavanshi responding disrespectfully to renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle during an interview. In the video, Bhogle was portrayed as asking the young batter whether he aspired to become a dominant figure in cricket like Virat Kohli. Suryavanshi was then falsely depicted as saying that while he admired Kohli, he did not appreciate his records, claiming that Kohli scored the slowest half-centuries and centuries and describing him as somewhat selfish. The manipulated clip further suggested that Suryavanshi only wanted Kohli's level of fan following.
As the video gained widespread attention online, questions were raised about the authenticity of the interaction. Harsha Bhogle has now publicly clarified that the clip was fabricated and created using manipulated audio, dismissing it as a fake and misleading portrayal of both individuals.
Highlighting the growing threat posed by artificial intelligence-generated deepfakes, Bhogle stated that neither the question shown in the video was ever asked nor was such a response ever given by Suryavanshi. He strongly criticized those responsible for creating and sharing the altered content.
In a statement posted on X, Bhogle said, “A fake dubbed clip of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and me is circulating on social media. It portrays Vaibhav as rude and arrogant. Neither was that question asked nor was that answer given. It is a cruel and mischievous act, especially against a young boy who has shown great respect in every interaction I have had with him.”
The clarification comes shortly after the IPL 2026 final, where Suryavanshi was seen sharing a memorable interaction with Virat Kohli. A video released through the official IPL account captured Kohli congratulating the young cricketer and offering words of encouragement. In the footage, Kohli can be heard telling Suryavanshi, “Well played, young man.”
Suryavanshi was also seen greeting the veteran Royal Challengers Bengaluru star with folded hands, demonstrating respect and humility. Kohli, in turn, praised the teenager for his outstanding performances during the season.
With Bhogle’s clarification, the truth behind the viral video has now emerged, exposing the clip as a fabricated deepfake intended to damage the reputation of one of cricket’s most promising young talents. The incident has once again highlighted the growing challenge posed by manipulated digital content and the potential harm such misinformation can inflict on public figures, particularly young athletes.
