Pre-Monsoon Showers Lash Mumbai’s Western Suburbs as IMD Issues Yellow Alert Amid Rising Heat

Pre-monsoon rainfall lashed the western suburbs of Mumbai on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, bringing brief but significant relief from the prevailing intense heat conditions across the city.

The India Meteorological Department had issued a yellow alert a day earlier, warning of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and moderate rainfall over the region. In line with the forecast, several areas including Borivali, Santacruz, Versova, Andheri, Dahisar, Bandra, and Khar experienced intermittent spells of rain accompanied by strong winds.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, maximum temperatures recorded at the Santacruz and Colaba observatories crossed 36 degrees Celsius, highlighting severe pre-monsoon heat conditions. For Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the maximum temperature is expected to settle around 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to remain near 27 degrees Celsius.

According to meteorological assessments, the ongoing pre-monsoon rainfall activity is expected to persist across the Konkan region until June 6. Meanwhile, southwest monsoon winds are likely to reach Kerala on Thursday, June 4, 2026. In the broader region, areas including Palghar, Thane, and Raigad are expected to experience warm conditions with intermittent light showers, while Mumbai may continue to witness scattered rainfall activity.
