CBI Arrests Twisha Sharma’s Mother-in-Law After Intense Interrogation in Major Breakthrough in Death Investigation
The CBI has arrested Twisha Sharma’s mother-in-law Giribala Singh after a seven-hour interrogation in the death case investigation. The agency confronted her with digital evidence including chats, CCTV and call records, citing inconsistencies. Main accused Samar Singh remains in custody as the probe intensifies with possible joint questioning and court proceedings expected today.
According to officials, Giribala Singh was questioned for nearly seven hours before being taken into custody. The interrogation began at around 10 AM and was conducted in multiple phases by different CBI teams, reflecting the complexity and seriousness of the investigation. She is expected to be produced before the court today in compliance with legal provisions requiring presentation within 24 hours of arrest.
Investigators questioned her in detail regarding the events surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death on May 12. The focus of the interrogation included her relationship with the deceased and the complete sequence of incidents leading up to the tragedy. Officials also confronted her with key pieces of evidence, including WhatsApp chats, CCTV footage, and call records, which reportedly revealed inconsistencies in her statements.
Sources indicate that investigators were not satisfied with several of her responses during questioning. This lack of clarity and perceived contradictions ultimately led to her arrest. The probe has also expanded to examine post-incident phone activity and alleged statements made after Twisha Sharma’s death, further deepening suspicion in the case.
Meanwhile, the main accused, Samar Singh, remains in CBI custody, which is scheduled to expire today. The Central Bureau of Investigation is expected to seek an extension of his custody from the court to continue further interrogation. Both accused are likely to be produced before the CBI court later in the day.
Officials are reportedly considering a request for joint custody of both accused to enable face-to-face questioning. Investigators believe that confronting them together may help resolve contradictions in their statements and assist in reconstructing the precise timeline of events surrounding the incident.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, with further legal proceedings expected later today as the case moves into a crucial phase of judicial scrutiny.
