Netanyahu Hails India as ‘Huge Power’ with Strong Pro-Israel Sentiment, Cites Expanding Strategic Partnership
Benjamin Netanyahu called India a “huge power” with strong pro-Israel sentiment while highlighting expanding India-Israel strategic ties. Speaking in the Jordan Valley, he stressed growing alliances across defence, technology, and diplomacy, alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visits and deepening bilateral cooperation amid global geopolitical tensions.
Speaking at a leadership programme in the Jordan Valley, Netanyahu highlighted India as a central example of Israel’s expanding global partnerships while discussing efforts to widen diplomatic outreach. The remarks were shared in a video released by the Government Press Office, and were reported by the PTI news agency.
“We are expanding our alliances and what you are talking about is expanding these alliances to a large space. And the larger space is really our unique relationship with a huge power called India,” Netanyahu said. He further stated that Israel faces delegitimisation in much of the world, “but not in India,” adding that he receives substantial support from Indian audiences, which he described as among the largest globally.
India and Israel continue to maintain a robust strategic partnership spanning defence, agriculture, water management, health, entrepreneurship, security cooperation, emerging technologies, cyber security, and other critical sectors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Israel on February 25 and 26 this year at the invitation of Netanyahu. His earlier visit in 2017 marked the first-ever trip by an Indian Prime Minister to Israel, underscoring a significant milestone in bilateral relations.
Netanyahu has previously referred to his personal rapport with Modi and emphasized strengthening cooperation across multiple domains. During the February engagement, both leaders reaffirmed their shared vision for a comprehensive strategic partnership rooted in peace, security, prosperity, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship.
A joint statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs noted the complementary strengths of both nations, with Israel recognized for its technological innovation and India identified as a hub of talent, manufacturing capability, and entrepreneurial growth.
In the context of ongoing conflicts involving Gaza and Iran, India has maintained a position that strongly condemns terrorism while simultaneously calling for peaceful resolution of disputes.
The remarks underscore the growing diplomatic alignment between India and Israel amid shifting global geopolitical dynamics, highlighting an increasingly strategic and multidimensional bilateral relationship.
