SolarEdge Expands Global Innovation Network With Launch of New R&D Campus in Bengaluru
SolarEdge Technologies has launched its new India Development Center in East Bengaluru, expanding its global research and development network and strengthening innovation in smart energy technology. The new facility will focus on next-generation power electronics, engineering collaboration, and advanced solar solutions for global markets.
The newly launched facility is located in one of India’s leading high-technology and engineering hubs and marks a significant expansion of SolarEdge’s engineering and product development capabilities. Through the new center, the company aims to enhance its global research and development operations while accelerating innovation and strengthening cross-regional collaboration across its worldwide technology ecosystem.
The India Development Center will focus on the development of next-generation power electronics and smart energy technologies. The expansion is also expected to broaden SolarEdge’s access to highly skilled engineering talent and advanced technological expertise in India. As part of its growth strategy, the company plans to recruit engineers from multiple disciplines and experience levels, including embedded power electronics, embedded control systems, hardware design, mechanical engineering, and integration testing.
The inauguration ceremony was led by SolarEdge Chief R&D Officer Liron Har Shai along with delegates from the company’s global headquarters. Highlighting the strategic importance of the new campus, Har Shai stated that expanding SolarEdge’s global R&D footprint in Bengaluru would strengthen the company’s ability to innovate at scale, accelerate product development, and collaborate with world-class engineering talent. He said the investment reflects the company’s confidence in the region’s engineering capabilities and its commitment to building a globally integrated research and development organization.
SolarEdge India Country Manager Sanjay Puri described India as one of the world’s most dynamic and promising solar markets. He emphasized that the country has also emerged as an attractive destination for global engineering centers. According to Puri, the new R&D and Technology Center represents an investment not only in infrastructure but also in innovation and talent that will help drive the next phase of solar growth in India and international markets.
SolarEdge India Head of R&D Sivamani Kukunur acknowledged the contribution of the company’s engineering teams in India and across its global R&D network. He said the India Development Center would support world-class engineering talent and advanced research capabilities while playing a critical role in shaping the next generation of smart energy technologies for customers worldwide.
SolarEdge is already active in the Indian photovoltaic market and currently provides residential and commercial solar solutions along with battery storage technologies. The company also operates customer support and service functions from Bengaluru. Its product portfolio includes inverters, power optimizers, storage systems, electric vehicle charging solutions, home energy management technologies, grid services, virtual power plants, and a cloud-based monitoring platform designed for residential, commercial, and small utility-scale solar installations.
The launch of the India Development Center marks a major step in SolarEdge’s long-term global expansion strategy and reinforces India’s growing importance as a center for advanced engineering, renewable energy innovation, and smart technology development in the global solar industry.
