Former India captain and legendary spinner Anil Kumble believes that Rajasthan Royals will still enter Qualifier 2 as underdogs despite their strong performances throughout the season. However, he emphasized that Suryavanshi could once again become the decisive factor if he delivers another impactful innings.
Speaking to JioHotstar, Kumble said, “It is difficult to predict. Rajasthan have played well, yet they still appear to be underdogs. I would still back RR. I expect Vaibhav to replicate his performance from the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad. If he succeeds in doing so, it will greatly benefit Rajasthan Royals.”
Kumble further noted that if Suryavanshi manages to survive through the powerplay, Rajasthan Royals will gain a significant advantage. He added that the young batter’s consistent performances over the last two months, including his Orange Cap-leading tally, reflect remarkable maturity and power-hitting ability. Suryavanshi has scored 680 runs in 15 matches at a striking rate of 242 and currently holds the Orange Cap.
However, Kumble also warned that Gujarat Titans possess a strong and well-structured bowling attack capable of applying early pressure. He highlighted the impact of Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada, who are expected to bowl three overs each in the initial phase of the innings, potentially shaping the course of the match.
