Finnable Appoints Former RBI Chief General Manager Shrimohan Yadav as Independent Director
Finnable appoints former RBI Chief General Manager Shrimohan Yadav as Independent Director, bringing 36 years of banking experience and regulatory expertise to strengthen the NBFC's governance as its lending business expands.
Yadav's banking career spans supervision, regulation and financial inclusion, with his experience at the RBI preceded by seven years as a commercial banker handling credit and financing at a large public sector bank. During his five-year tenure as Chief General Manager of the RBI's Department of Regulation, he headed divisions responsible for bank and NBFC ownership, licensing and governance matters, including board composition.
He was also a lead contributor to the RBI's Internal Working Group on Ownership Guidelines for Private Sector Banks and its Discussion Paper on Governance in Banks, both published in 2020. In addition, he served on the Financial Stability Board's Compensation Monitoring Contact Group in Basel.
Yadav currently serves as an Independent Director on the boards of slice Small Finance Bank and Capri Global Housing Finance, among others. He also works as a Senior Advisor to Stride One Capital and IndusLaw. Through the RBI Innovation Hub, he mentors fintech companies on regulatory matters.
His appointment is expected to bring direct regulatory experience in licensing, corporate governance and NBFC supervision to Finnable's Board. This expertise is particularly relevant as the company expands its operations under the RBI's evolving supervisory framework.
Commenting on the appointment, Nitin Gupta, CEO of Finnable, said, "As Finnable scales, having the right voices at the board table matters more than ever. Shrimohan brings decades of first-hand regulatory experience from inside the RBI, and his perspective will sharpen our governance as we grow responsibly. We're glad to have him on this journey with us."
Yadav said, "Finnable has anchored itself to a simple idea: the growth of our borrowers is inseparable from our own. At the heart of its vision is a segment of India's economy too often overlooked by formal credit systems, working professionals who form the backbone of our economy. I look forward to contributing to that vision and to Finnable's governance and strategic direction as it continues to grow."
Finnable Group was founded by Nitin Gupta and Amit Kumar Arora with the objective of making credit simple, fast and fair for people who have traditionally been overlooked and underserved by conventional lenders. As of June '26, the company had grown into a lending business with assets under management (AUM) of ₹4,000 crore.
The Group offers multiple lending products, including personal loans, loans against property (LAP) and consumer finance, catering to different customer requirements. Its operations combine technology-led processes, data-driven underwriting and a customer-centric approach to simplify the borrowing journey.
The company also maintains a focus on responsible lending, risk management and compliance. As Finnable continues to expand its lending operations, the appointment of Yadav adds extensive experience in banking regulation and governance to its leadership structure, areas central to the Group's stated focus on technology, governance and customer-centricity.
