Ramayana Unveils New Glimpses of Sita’s Battle, Ravana’s War and Global Vision

Ramayana's new glimpse video reveals Sita's battle scenes, Ravana's Shiv Tandav and more. Ranbir Kapoor, Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari discuss the film's global vision, scale and worldwide release plans.

The upcoming film Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic releases of the year, with plans to reach audiences in India and across the world. Producer Namit Malhotra has joined hands with Sony Pictures to give the film a major global release. As part of the promotional campaign, a new trailer was released on October 15, featuring several previously unseen visuals.

With Ramayana now entering full-scale marketing mode, another video related to the film has surfaced. At around 3 am on the morning of October 17, the film’s official X account shared a glimpse video featuring producer Namit Malhotra, actor Ranbir Kapoor and director Nitesh Tiwari. The three spoke about the film’s global vision, scale and ambition.

The latest video includes several scenes that differ from those featured in the trailer. Among the new visuals are glimpses of Mata Sita participating in battle. While Lord Ram fought 14,000 demons, Sita also took part in the conflict, as shown in the video. Another scene depicts her teaching young girls martial arts and weapon skills in Mithila.

The video also features additional scenes of Lord Ram. Months ago, when the film’s first Ram teaser was released, a demon shown in it drew criticism from viewers who felt that the character did not look Indian. The latest video features a revised version of that entire scene.

Producer Namit Malhotra then discusses the story, explaining that it contains everything that makes it grand and expansive, with something for everyone. Director Nitesh Tiwari agrees, saying that people across the world can relate to Ramayana because it contains the story of a father-son relationship, a beautiful love story and the journey of an underdog.

Speaking about the opportunity to create a project of this scale, Malhotra says that when the opportunity came his way, he felt that the film needed to be made. According to him, some films are not simply made; they come into existence on their own.

Ranbir Kapoor also praises Malhotra for bringing a scale, technology and talent to the Bollywood industry that are rarely seen in the country. The producer reveals that around 10,000 people from across the world are working on Ramayana.

Nitesh Tiwari says he had complete faith in Malhotra’s company, DNEG, and its ability to deliver a film of such enormous scale.

Towards the end of the video, Malhotra reveals that he started his company in a garage 30 years ago. After winning eight Oscars, he had been waiting for the day when he would get the opportunity to create a project like Ramayana. He also acknowledges the major talents associated with the film, whose contributions are helping turn his long-held dream into reality.

With its global release plans, newly revealed battle sequences and emphasis on large-scale filmmaking, Ramayana is moving further into its promotional campaign. The film is scheduled to release worldwide on November 5.
