Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Says India Can Never Become Nepal, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka

All India Muslim Jamaat chief Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi says India can never become like Nepal, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka, calls for scrutiny of foreign protest participants and praises the Yogi government's law and order record.

Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, national president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has said that India can never become like Nepal, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka, urging the government to investigate people coming to India from abroad to participate in protests. He made the remarks in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday.

“India can never become Nepal, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka. The government should investigate people who come here from outside the country to participate in protests,” Maulana Razvi said.

Maulana Razvi Praises Yogi Government's Law and Order

Commenting on the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Maulana Razvi praised the government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He claimed that security arrangements in the state had remained strict during the Yogi government's tenure.

Razvi alleged that, apart from the incidents in Bahraich and Sambhal, no other incident of violence had occurred in Uttar Pradesh during the current government's tenure. He also criticised the Samajwadi Party government led by former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, claiming that the law and order situation had been poor under its administration.

Earlier Appeal to Muslim Youth Ahead of Jantar Mantar Protest

The latest remarks came days after Maulana Razvi appealed to Muslim youth to stay away from a proposed protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 10. The demonstration was linked to demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The protest organisers had alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and raised the demand for the Chief Election Commissioner's resignation over the issue.

'Protesting Is a Democratic Right, But...'

In his earlier appeal, Maulana Razvi had acknowledged that holding protests was a legal and democratic right. However, he cautioned that if demonstrations turned violent, ordinary people could face difficulties.

He specifically urged Muslim youth living and working in Delhi and neighbouring areas of Uttar Pradesh not to participate in the proposed demonstration. Razvi warned that violence during protests could increase hardships for the general public.

His latest statement comes amid a wider debate over remarks concerning protests in Bangladesh and the possibility of regime change in India. Neha Bora had said that the protests in Bangladesh showed Gen-Z a way forward, prompting the BJP to accuse her of conspiring to destroy democracy in India. Separately, Prashant Bhushan had made remarks about “regime change”, drawing criticism from the BJP, which alleged that they wanted to replicate what had happened in Bangladesh.
