SRM University-AP Students Secure Japan Career Opportunities Through Techno Smile Partnership

SRM University-AP’s partnership with Japan’s Techno Smile has produced its first international career milestone, with 17 engineering students selected after a two-day campus job fair held on September 10 and 11.

An industry-academia partnership between SRM University-AP and Japanese technology enterprise Techno Smile has moved from a formal agreement to international placements, with seventeen engineering students selected for career opportunities in Japan and many more expected to follow.

Techno Smile conducted a two-day job fair at the SRM AP campus on September 10 and 11. Through the initiative, seventeen engineering students from the University's 2027 Destination Japan graduating batch were selected for international career tracks, marking the first tangible milestone toward the fifty opportunities promised for 2028.

The partnership was formally set in motion on June 2, when a delegation from Techno Smile visited the SRM AP campus to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the University. The MoU was signed on behalf of the institution by Dr Vinayak Kalluri, Registrar of SRM University-AP. It laid the foundation for what both sides described as a long-term collaboration, with Techno Smile setting out an ambitious vision to create fifty career opportunities for SRM AP engineering students by 2028.

The commitment moved forward on August 6, when Mr Sankar Karunanidhi, Country Manager at SRM Global Consulting Pvt Ltd, travelled to Techno Smile's Aichi Head Office in Nagoya. He met Mr Ryoma Yoshinaga, Managing Executive Officer of the company's Technology Business Division, and Mr Syuntaro Suzuki, Deputy Head of the same division. Their discussions focused on the practical steps required to turn the partnership's early promise into a functioning hiring pipeline for SRM AP students.

The partnership's reach extends beyond the students selected through the job fair. During their September 10 and 11 visit, Techno Smile's senior management interacted with more than 1,000 first- and second-year engineering students, introducing them to career opportunities in Japan and encouraging them to consider the option as they progress through their studies. The engagement focused on early awareness as well as recruitment.

The University remains committed to building similar pathways that connect its students with international industries and careers beyond national borders, extending the pathway from SRM University-AP to Japan and creating opportunities for careers without borders.
