Modi, Vietnam PM Lê Minh Hưng Deepen Strategic Ties at BRICS Summit

PM Narendra Modi and Vietnam's Lê Minh Hưng met at the BRICS Summit in New Delhi to deepen defence, energy and space cooperation and target $25 billion in trade by 2030.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng held bilateral discussions during the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, focusing on strengthening defence cooperation, expanding energy and space ties, and increasing bilateral trade to $25 billion by 2030.

The leaders discussed boosting defence cooperation through a 2+2 mechanism, while also exploring greater engagement in the energy and space sectors. The talks reflected a broader effort to deepen bilateral ties between India and Vietnam.

During the meeting, Modi and Lê Minh Hưng also set their sights on achieving $25 billion in bilateral trade by 2030, placing trade expansion alongside cooperation in strategic and emerging sectors.

The discussions highlighted Vietnam's role in India's Act East Policy. The engagement builds on the Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam from May 2026, reinforcing the two countries' commitment to strengthening their bilateral relationship.
