Singh’s extradition marks Punjab Police’s first extradition of a fugitive from a European nation. The operation, code-named Eastern Reach, involved coordination with Moldovan authorities, officials in Azerbaijan and Indian agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Ministries of Home Affairs and External Affairs.
A four-member Anti-Gangster Task Force team, led by SP Bikramjit Singh Brar, handled the handover of Singh and brought him back to India.
According to the details provided by Punjab Police, Singh had fled India in October 2024 using a fake passport. His return from Moldova follows coordinated efforts involving authorities across multiple jurisdictions and Indian agencies.
The extradition is being seen as a significant operation in Punjab Police’s ongoing campaign against organised crime, with the force securing the return of a fugitive wanted in 21 cases, including murder, arms violations and drug offences.
