Xi’s visit marked his first trip to India in seven years since the 2020 border clash. Putin, meanwhile, stated that Russia poses no threat to Europe during the summit.
The New Delhi Declaration 2026 addressed key issues including reforms to the United Nations Security Council, global finance and conflicts in West Asia. The declaration was adopted unanimously, with India playing a role in bridging differences among the participating countries.
Alongside the main summit discussions, leaders held side meetings and took part in cultural exchanges. These engagements underscored efforts by the emerging economies to strengthen cooperation and align their interests independently of Western structures.
The 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi therefore brought together discussions on global governance, finance, regional conflicts and cooperation, while highlighting the group’s focus on resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability.
