Xi Jinping last visited India on October 11-12, 2019, for the second India-China informal summit in Mamallapuram.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, “At the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Xi Jinping will attend the BRICS Summit to be held in New Delhi on September 12-13.” The ministry has not released any further details about Xi Jinping’s India visit, but it is believed that the Chinese president and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also hold a bilateral meeting during the visit.

Xi Jinping’s visit to India is being seen as a sign of improvement in India-China relations. His visit is taking place after nearly seven years and is being viewed in global diplomatic circles as an indication that the freeze in India-China relations may be easing.
