Accompanied by her family members, Dhanni Bai cast her vote with enthusiasm. People and election officials at the polling station appreciated her determination to participate in the democratic process despite her age.
Her family members said that even at the age of 108, Dhanni Bai continues to perform most of her daily activities largely on her own. She still follows a regular daily routine. Notably, she visits the Dwarkadhish Temple in Jhalrapatan every day to offer prayers. Her activity at this stage of life has become an inspiration for her family and people around her.
After casting her vote, Dhanni Bai said that voting is the right of every citizen in a healthy democracy. She urged everyone to exercise their franchise and contribute to strengthening democracy.
Voting for the urban local body elections continued across the district, with considerable enthusiasm among voters recorded in all four urban local bodies until 1 pm. Long queues of voters were seen at several polling stations.
By 1 pm, polling had reached 45.15 per cent in the district, while Jhalrapatan recorded 50.67 per cent, Bhawani Mandi 53.01 per cent and Dag recorded the highest turnout at 59.61 per cent.
Voters had been arriving at polling stations since morning, with large numbers standing in queues to exercise their franchise. The administration continued to review arrangements at the polling stations.
District Collector Ajay Singh Rathore and Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar inspected various polling stations and reviewed the arrangements. The officials took information about the voting process, security arrangements and facilities available to voters.
The participation of 108-year-old Dhanni Bai Rathore stood out during the ongoing municipal elections, as voters across the district continued to exercise their right to vote.
