Maharashtra Weather: Rain Set to Return as State Faces Growing Deficit

Maharashtra is facing a major rainfall deficit after a prolonged dry spell, raising farmer concerns. The Meteorological Department forecasts a weather shift from September 11, with heavy rain likely across several regions.

Rain has virtually disappeared from Maharashtra at a crucial time of the monsoon, leaving farmers increasingly worried as the state continues to face a significant rainfall deficit. August has passed and the first week of September has also ended, but the expected rainfall has remained elusive. With dry conditions persisting over the past few days, concern among farmers has intensified. However, the India Meteorological Department has issued some relief, indicating that a major change in weather conditions is likely across the state over the next two days.

In the Konkan region, no alert has been issued for Thursday. The region has witnessed a break in rainfall over the past few days, with alternating periods of sunshine and cloud cover. Weather conditions are currently dry and hot. However, the weather in Konkan is expected to change after September 12, with the Meteorological Department forecasting good rainfall at most places.

In North Maharashtra, districts including Nandurbar, Nashik, Jalgaon and Dhule are likely to receive light showers. Moderate rainfall has also been forecast in some areas. However, the region has also experienced a prolonged break in rainfall, resulting in a significant rainfall deficit. A yellow alert has been issued for the Nashik ghat areas for Friday, increasing the possibility of rainfall and offering some relief to residents.

Western Maharashtra is currently witnessing hot and dry weather. No alert has been issued for Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Solapur districts on Thursday. While light showers are possible at some locations, the region has not received widespread rainfall, adding to concerns among farmers and residents.
