Tiger Shroff Car Firing Case: Indore Detention Takes Arrest Count to 11
The Tiger Shroff car firing case has taken a new turn with the Mumbai Crime Branch detaining a man in Indore, taking the total to 11 as investigators prepare MCOCA charges and examine the alleged gang's role.
The detention comes days after police announced that all 10 people arrested at the time would be charged under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). According to police sources, investigators have begun collecting evidence and completing the documentation required to invoke the Act.
The firing took place on the evening of October 18, when at least two men allegedly opened fire on the 36-year-old actor’s car in Juhu before fleeing on a motorcycle. According to the Mumbai Police, five to six rounds were fired. The motorcycle allegedly used by the shooters was later found abandoned in Andheri.
Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt in the incident, but his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.
The case was subsequently transferred from the Juhu Police to the Mumbai Crime Branch. The department’s Anti-Extortion Cell is now investigating the incident.
Anil Pandit, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack. The three alleged shooters were arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota while attempting to escape to Nepal via Delhi. Two women were also arrested earlier for allegedly supplying weapons to the shooters.
Police sources said the gang had initially planned to target another high-profile personality but changed its plans because of heavy security.
“After checking out areas frequented by this individual, the shooters realised that they would not be able to get to the person. This was when they shifted their target to Tiger Shroff after learning, through reels posted by his fans, that the actor did not have police protection,” a source said.
On Tuesday, Shroff’s team issued a warning against the circulation of fabricated stories, unauthorised statements and AI-generated videos falsely attributed to the actor. The team also urged media organisations and social media platforms to verify information before publishing it.
With the latest detention in Indore, the number of people arrested or detained in the case has reached 11. Investigators are continuing to establish the suspect’s role while preparing the case under MCOCA, as the probe examines the alleged gang’s involvement, the weapons supply and the circumstances surrounding the choice of target.
