A petition was subsequently filed in the matter before the Supreme Court. After the Supreme Court intervened, the BCI was required to withdraw the disputed order.

The court did not recognise any authority of the BCI to take action against the law students in the matter. The ruling establishes that student-related action in such circumstances falls within the authority of the respective university, rather than the Bar Council of India.
