India will launch Asia's largest hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat on July 17, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the nine-coach service. Announced by Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Bedi, the project surpasses existing hydrogen trains in Japan and China, marking a significant step in sustainable railway transportation.

India is set to mark a major milestone in clean railway transportation with the launch of Asia's largest hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana. The nine-coach hydrogen train will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17, according to an announcement made by Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Bedi.
The hydrogen-powered train will operate on the Jind-Sonipat route and will become the largest hydrogen train in Asia in terms of the number of coaches. The announcement highlights India's growing focus on sustainable and environmentally friendly railway technology.
Before India, hydrogen trains have been introduced in Japan and China. However, the hydrogen trains operating in those countries consist of only three or four coaches. In contrast, India's hydrogen train will feature nine coaches, making it the largest hydrogen-powered train in Asia.
The launch of the nine-coach hydrogen train represents a significant step in India's transition toward cleaner rail transport. With its operation between Jind and Sonipat and its scheduled inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17, the project underscores the country's advancement in adopting next-generation, eco-friendly railway technology while setting a new benchmark for hydrogen-powered rail services in Asia.
