Mahindra Thar Driver Knocks Down Two Motorcyclists in Mumbai, Flees Without Stopping; Police Register FIR
A viral video of a Haryana-registered Mahindra Thar hitting two motorcyclists on a Mumbai road and fleeing has sparked outrage. Police have registered an FIR against the unidentified driver under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act as an investigation continues.
The video, which has been widely circulated online, appears to show a Mahindra Thar bearing registration number HR 98 X 5101 being driven recklessly on a crowded Mumbai road. Moments later, the vehicle is seen hitting another two-wheeler before speeding away without slowing down or stopping.
The incident has drawn strong criticism from social media users, who accused the driver of showing complete disregard for the safety of other road users and demanded strict action against the person responsible.
The video was brought to the attention of the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar Police, which acknowledged the matter through a post on X and confirmed that a case had been registered against the unidentified driver.
According to the police, FIR No. 0334/2026 has been registered at Kashigaon Police Station against the unidentified driver of the Mahindra Thar bearing registration number HR 98 X 5101. The case has been filed under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Sections 184 and 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the offence has been officially recorded.
The identity of the driver has not yet been revealed, while the registration of the FIR indicates that an investigation is currently underway.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation online, with several users demanding strict enforcement against reckless driving and hit-and-run behaviour. Many have urged authorities to ensure accountability and take effective measures to prevent similar incidents on public roads.
