Maharashtra Rain Havoc: Relentless Monsoon Downpour Disrupts Normal Life, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Remains on High Alert

Maharashtra continues to witness intense monsoon rainfall, disrupting daily life across several regions. Mumbai Metropolitan Region remains on high alert as IMD forecasts moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds. Mumbai University postpones today’s examinations due to adverse weather conditions.

Continuous monsoon rains have intensified across Maharashtra, disrupting normal life and forcing authorities to extend precautionary measures. Several parts of the state, particularly the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, remain on high alert as incessant rainfall continues to create challenging conditions.

Mumbai University has postponed all examinations scheduled for today due to the prevailing weather situation. The university is expected to announce revised examination dates soon.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Maharashtra receives around 80 percent of its annual rainfall during the monsoon period from June to September, with July recording the highest rainfall activity of the season.

The weather department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in several districts across the state. Thunderstorms and strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph are also expected at isolated locations. Cloudy skies are likely to prevail over Mumbai, Pune, Konkan and adjoining regions.

The ongoing rainfall spell has kept authorities alert as the state continues to face the impact of widespread monsoon activity. With heavy showers expected to persist in multiple areas, precautionary measures remain in place to manage the situation and minimise disruptions.
