Prime Minister Narendra Modi Chairs High-Level Meeting with Top Bureaucrats, Focus Expected on Governance and Policy Reforms
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting with central ministry secretaries to review governance and administrative performance. Held after his Seychelles visit, the meeting is expected to focus on policy reforms, ease of doing business, faster decision-making, and efficient implementation of the government's long-term development agenda.
The meeting took place a day after Prime Minister Modi concluded his official visit to Seychelles. It also marked his second major institutional interaction with senior government officials in less than two months, underlining the government's continued emphasis on administrative efficiency and policy implementation.
Earlier, on May 21, the Prime Minister chaired a joint meeting of the Union Council of Ministers and central secretaries to prepare regulatory roadmaps aimed at achieving the vision of a developed India. During that meeting, he stressed the importance of faster decision-making, efficient governance, and timely execution of government initiatives. He directed officials to ensure that administrative files move without unnecessary delays and called for maximizing productivity within the shortest possible time.
According to news agency ANI, Tuesday's meeting is being viewed as an important mid-term assessment of the government's performance and progress on key priorities. The Union Council of Ministers currently comprises 30 Cabinet Ministers, excluding the Prime Minister, five Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State.
The high-level review reflects the government's continued focus on strengthening administrative efficiency, accelerating policy execution, and ensuring effective governance as it advances its long-term development agenda. With senior bureaucrats and ministers playing a central role in implementing national priorities, the meeting is regarded as a significant step in evaluating progress and reinforcing the government's commitment to timely and result-oriented governance.
