Navi Mumbai Paralyzed After Heavy Rainfall; Sanpada–APMC Road Submerged Under 1.5 Feet of Water

Navi Mumbai faced severe waterlogging after heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning, submerging key routes including Sanpada–APMC Road under 1.5 feet of water. Turbhe parking areas were flooded, while IMD forecast continued heavy rain across Mumbai. Traffic slowed during peak hours though local trains remained unaffected.

Navi Mumbai was brought to a standstill on Tuesday morning after intense rainfall triggered severe waterlogging across multiple areas, turning major roads into river-like stretches and severely disrupting daily life.

In Turbhe, residential society parking lots were inundated as rainwater rapidly accumulated, leaving vehicles partially submerged and residents struggling to manage the situation.

The most severe impact was reported on the Sanpada to APMC Road stretch, where nearly 1.5 feet of water accumulated due to heavy rainfall. Pedestrians faced significant difficulty navigating the submerged roadway. Authorities indicated that improper and delayed cleaning of drainage systems prevented efficient water outflow, leading to persistent waterlogging. Residents also noted that this is the second instance of roads being submerged during the ongoing monsoon season, highlighting recurring flooding concerns in the area.

Local residents have raised strong concerns against the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), alleging that drainage maintenance and cleaning operations are not conducted in a timely manner. According to them, repeated monsoon flooding disrupts parking facilities, residential surroundings, and major road networks, severely affecting everyday routines.
