Massive Electoral Roll Clean-Up Drive Begins in Mumbai as Special Intensive Revision Campaign Launched
Mumbai has launched a Special Intensive Revision campaign for electoral rolls from June 30 to July 29, 2026. Booth Level Officers will conduct door-to-door verification to update voter data, remove duplicates, and add new voters. The initiative aims to ensure a clean, accurate, and transparent voter database ahead of upcoming elections.
Under the campaign framework, Booth Level Officers will conduct door-to-door visits to every registered voter’s residence. During these visits, officials will distribute enumeration forms to voters. Each voter is required to fill in accurate personal details, sign the form, and return a copy to the Booth Level Officer. This structured process is designed to eliminate errors and inconsistencies in the voter database.
Individuals whose names are missing from the previous electoral roll and who seek new registration will be required to submit valid proof of identity and eligibility. Acceptable documents include a birth certificate, passport, Class 10 examination mark sheet, residence certificate, Aadhaar card, bank or post office records, documents related to the National Register of Citizens, and government-issued identity cards.
The Municipal Corporation Administration has also advised all citizens to keep a recent passport-sized color photograph ready to expedite verification procedures. Authorities have appealed for full cooperation from the public to ensure the campaign is completed in a timely and transparent manner.
The objective of the Special Intensive Revision exercise is to systematically remove deceased voters, duplicate entries, and names of individuals who have permanently relocated, while simultaneously adding newly eligible voters to the electoral list. Given Mumbai’s vast and densely populated urban landscape, officials have emphasized the critical importance of this operation in maintaining electoral integrity.
Citizens are being urged to actively participate by providing accurate information to Booth Level Officers and submitting completed forms within the stipulated time frame. In cases where voters are not available at their residences during initial visits, Booth Level Officers may revisit to complete the verification process.
The campaign marks a significant administrative step toward strengthening the accuracy and reliability of Mumbai’s electoral system ahead of forthcoming elections.
