Fiancée Accused of Plotting Pune Realtor's Murder After Allegedly Diverting Rs 1 Crore to Lover
Police have accused a Pune realtor's fiancée of conspiring with her alleged lover to murder him during a trek at Lohagad Fort after allegedly diverting Rs 1 crore meant for their wedding. Investigators claim the pair exchanged over 2,000 calls, researched killing methods, rehearsed the crime, and later confessed while blaming each other. The investigation remains ongoing.
The deceased, 26-year-old Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, died on June 18 after falling from a 400-foot cliff at Lohagad Fort during a trek with his fiancée, 20-year-old Siya Goyal. According to the police investigation, Goyal allegedly conspired with her alleged lover, 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary, to murder Agarwal. Investigators allege that Chaudhary pushed Agarwal off the cliff after Goyal signaled that it was safe to carry out the act.
Police further allege that Goyal handed over Rs 1 crore to Chaudhary. The money had reportedly been provided for shopping related to the couple's wedding, which was scheduled for November, but investigators claim it was instead used to support Chaudhary's career.
During the investigation, police found that Goyal and Chaudhary exchanged more than 2,000 telephone calls before the incident. Investigators also allege that the pair searched for methods of committing the murder and rehearsed the crime before executing their plan at the fort.
According to the police, both accused have confessed to their involvement in the case. However, each has reportedly blamed the other for the killing. Investigators are continuing to examine deleted chat records and are also probing the circumstances surrounding a missing passport as part of the ongoing investigation.
The case has left Agarwal's family grieving while the investigation continues. A court has extended the police custody of the accused until July 3, allowing investigators additional time to examine digital evidence and other material connected to the alleged conspiracy. The case has drawn widespread attention because of the serious allegations of premeditated murder, financial misuse, and betrayal at the center of the investigation.
