Ashok Sharma Replaces Injured Yudhvir Singh in India A Squad for Sri Lanka Tri-Series
India A have named pacer Ashok Sharma as a replacement for injured Yudhvir Singh in the ongoing Sri Lanka tri-series. Yudhvir will undergo rehabilitation for a right rotator cuff injury under the BCCI Centre of Excellence. India A, after consecutive defeats against Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A, will face Afghanistan A in Dambulla tomorrow.
According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Yudhvir reported discomfort in his right shoulder while bowling. The fast bowler had also experienced pain earlier during a fielding session, prompting further medical assessment. Following evaluation, the BCCI medical team recommended that he undergo a structured rehabilitation programme to ensure a complete recovery.
The board stated that Yudhvir will now follow a graduated rehabilitation process under the supervision of the BCCI Centre of Excellence. The programme has been designed to facilitate his full recovery from the right rotator cuff injury before returning to competitive cricket.
In response to the setback, India A have included Ashok Sharma in the squad for the remainder of the tri-series. His addition comes at a crucial stage of the tournament as the team looks to revive its campaign after a difficult run of results.
India A have suffered back-to-back defeats in the competition, losing to Afghanistan A and hosts Sri Lanka A. The consecutive losses have placed added pressure on the side as they seek to remain competitive in the tournament.
The team will next face Afghanistan A at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, tomorrow. The match is expected to be a critical opportunity for India A to halt their losing streak and regain momentum in the tri-series, while Ashok Sharma's inclusion adds a fresh pace option to the squad following Yudhvir Singh's injury setback.
