Bisleri Marks World Environment Day 2026 with Large-Scale Sustainability Drive Across Maharashtra and Goa

Bisleri International marked World Environment Day 2026 with large-scale sustainability initiatives across Maharashtra and Goa, engaging over 40,000 citizens through awareness campaigns, clean-up drives, plastic collection programmes, educational visits, and the inauguration of the “Wings of Change” installation by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Mumbai.

Mumbai: Reinforcing the message of environmental responsibility and plastic circularity, Bisleri International commemorated World Environment Day 2026 with an extensive series of community-driven initiatives across Maharashtra and Goa. Through its flagship plastic waste management programme, Bottles for Change, the company mobilised more than 40,000 citizens through awareness campaigns, clean-up drives, collection initiatives, educational programmes, and public installations aimed at promoting responsible plastic waste management.

A major highlight of the celebrations was the inauguration of “Wings of Change,” a large-scale public artwork created from 2,000 used PET bottles. The installation was unveiled at Carter Road in Mumbai by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in collaboration with the Bhamla Foundation. The artwork was designed to emphasise the importance of recycling and circular economy practices in addressing the growing challenge of plastic waste.

As part of its outreach efforts, Bisleri conducted extensive door-to-door awareness campaigns across Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Mira Road, reaching more than 35,000 residents with information on plastic segregation and recycling. Awareness stalls were also established at prominent locations in Mira Road to encourage public participation in sustainable waste management practices.

Educational engagement formed a key component of the initiative. Awareness sessions were organised at AB Goregaon School, while students were provided guided experiential visits to Bisleri’s Resource Recovery and Sustainability Inspiration Centre in Mira Road. These visits offered first-hand insight into the journey of plastic waste from collection and segregation to recycling and resource recovery.

In Pune, the company organised multiple awareness and collection initiatives in partnership with corporate organisations, educational institutions, and local communities. Awareness stalls were set up at IIC Devi IT Park, Aai Garden in Dapodi, and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Football Ground, engaging more than 4,500 participants. Plastic collection drives conducted in collaboration with the State Council of Educational Research and Training and other stakeholders resulted in the collection of more than 750 kilograms of plastic waste.

In Nagpur, community-focused outreach programmes encouraged residents to adopt responsible plastic waste management practices. A dedicated Bottles for Change stall at Walkers Street further promoted awareness regarding plastic segregation, recycling, and sustainable waste disposal. The initiatives collectively engaged more than 1,500 citizens.

In Goa, clean-up drives were organised in Panaji and Harvalem, bringing together more than 200 students and citizens in a collective effort to preserve environmental cleanliness and promote sustainable habits.

The initiatives form part of Bisleri’s ongoing Bottles for Change programme, which has reached more than 10 million people across India and continues to advance awareness regarding plastic segregation, collection, and recycling through sustained community engagement.

With a legacy spanning more than five decades, Bisleri International has grown into one of India’s largest premium beverage companies. The organisation operates 128 plants and maintains an extensive distribution network comprising more than 6,000 distributors and 7,500 distribution vehicles across India and the United Arab Emirates. The company’s beverage portfolio includes packaged drinking water, Vedica Himalayan Spring Water, and a range of carbonated beverages such as Bisleri Limonata, Bisleri Rev, Bisleri Spyci Jeera, Bisleri Pop, and Bisleri Soda.

Bisleri continues to integrate sustainability into its business operations through its Sustainability 2.0 initiative, known as Bisleri Greener Promise. The programme focuses on recycling, water conservation, and environmental sustainability, reflecting the company’s broader commitment to building a greener future through responsible environmental stewardship.

The World Environment Day 2026 initiatives demonstrated the growing impact of collaborative environmental action, highlighting how community participation, awareness, and sustainable practices can contribute significantly to addressing plastic waste challenges and advancing a circular economy across the country.
