Delhi University Assistant Professor Found Murdered in East Delhi Apartment, Investigation Underway
Delhi University Assistant Professor Devosmita Paul was found murdered inside her flat in Vasundhara Enclave, East Delhi. Police discovered severe head injuries and severed wrist veins, while valuables remained untouched. A murder case has been registered, multiple teams have been deployed, and investigators say several leads have already emerged.
The deceased has been identified as Devosmita Paul, an Assistant Professor at Shivaji College. She lived alone in a flat at Satyam Apartments in Vasundhara Enclave, while her husband resides in Bengaluru.
According to the Delhi Police, a call was received at the New Ashok Nagar Police Station at approximately 2:35 pm on Thursday. The caller, 49-year-old Devarati Paul, informed officers that her sister had been found dead inside her residence.
Police said the apartment had been locked from the outside since the morning, and repeated attempts to contact Devosmita Paul by phone had failed. Growing concerned about her safety, Devarati Paul broke the lock and entered the flat, where she discovered her sister's body.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim was attacked with a heavy object. Investigators found a deep head injury, while the veins in her wrist had also been severed. The circumstances surrounding the killing have raised serious concerns, and forensic examination is expected to provide further clarity.
The body has been sent to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause and sequence of injuries.
Police officials stated that there were no signs of robbery inside the residence. Jewellery and cash present in the apartment were found untouched, suggesting that theft was not the apparent motive behind the crime.
A murder case has been registered, and multiple police teams have been formed to investigate the incident from all possible angles. Officers said they have already identified several leads and expressed confidence that the accused will be arrested soon.
The killing of a Delhi University faculty member inside her own residence has sent shockwaves through the academic community and the local neighbourhood, with investigators now racing to uncover the motive and bring those responsible to justice.
