Another Indian Army Proposal Video Goes Viral, Sparks Fresh Debate on Military Decorum
A viral video showing an Indian Army personnel proposing to his partner after a ceremonial event has sparked fresh debate over military decorum and social media visibility. The incident follows the widely discussed proposal by Captain Bharat Bhardwaj, drawing mixed reactions from the public and retired military officers.
The clip, shared by news agency ANI on its Instagram account, captures an Indian Army soldier proposing to a woman dressed in a blue saree shortly after a ceremonial event. According to the caption accompanying the video, the proposal was a surprise and was recorded immediately after the ceremony.
In the footage, the Army personnel, dressed in uniform, is seen kneeling on one knee before proposing to his partner. The woman responds by embracing him as spectators watch the emotional moment unfold. The authenticity of the video could not be independently verified.
The video quickly attracted widespread attention online, drawing mixed reactions from social media users. While many described the gesture as touching and memorable, others questioned whether such public displays were appropriate within a military context and whether the incident warranted extensive media coverage.
The latest viral clip follows closely on the heels of another proposal involving newly commissioned Indian Army Captain Bharat Bhardwaj. Videos of Bhardwaj proposing to his partner after a passing-out parade recently gained national attention and generated significant discussion across social media platforms.
Although many people praised the captain's gesture as a heartfelt personal milestone, concerns were raised regarding military protocol and the circulation of photographs and videos recorded within a defence establishment. Reports indicated that the Army was likely to seek an explanation from the officer concerning the widespread dissemination of the proposal footage on social media.
The incident also prompted strong reactions from several retired senior military officers. Defending the young captain, they argued that the proposal did not constitute a serious security violation and criticised what they considered an excessive response to a personal moment shared publicly.
The discussion has also drawn attention to the Army Aviation training ecosystem, particularly the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CAATS), one of the Indian Army's premier training institutions. Operating under the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) headquartered in Shimla, the institution trains Indian Army officers, Indian Navy personnel, women officers, and military officers from friendly foreign nations.
Pilots trained at CAATS subsequently specialise in critical tactical operations, including paradrops, search and rescue missions, special forces insertion, and essential medical and supply operations in challenging high-altitude regions such as the Siachen Glacier.
As another proposal video gains widespread visibility, the incident has once again placed the spotlight on the intersection of personal expression, military traditions, and public scrutiny, ensuring that the debate surrounding decorum and social media visibility within defence institutions remains firmly in focus.
