ndia’s Economy Stays on Strong Growth Path as Prime Minister Narendra Modi Highlights Record Expansion and Green Energy Push

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s strong economic growth of 7.7 percent in 2025–26 despite global challenges, while unveiling major development projects in Daman and Surat. He emphasized renewable energy leadership, green hydrogen transition, and infrastructure-led growth as key pillars of India’s progress.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed that the foundation of the Indian economy remains exceptionally strong, stating that the country has recorded robust growth of 7.7 percent in the fiscal year 2025–26 despite a prevailing global economic crisis.

Addressing a large public gathering after inaugurating and launching a series of development projects worth approximately 2,970 crore rupees in Daman, the Prime Minister emphasized that India continues to rank among the fastest-growing major economies in the world. He assured citizens that the nation will continue advancing through a sustained reform drive while prioritizing large-scale infrastructure expansion and welfare initiatives for the poor.

The Prime Minister further underlined the government’s commitment to self-reliance in the energy sector, noting that the global transition is steadily moving toward a green future. He stated that India is actively leading this transformation by balancing rapid economic growth with ecological preservation and sustainable development goals.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated multiple infrastructure projects valued at over 18,000 crore rupees in Surat. During his address, he highlighted that India’s total renewable energy capacity stands at 250 gigawatts, of which Gujarat contributes 50 gigawatts, accounting for a significant one-fifth share of the nation’s green energy output. He added that Gujarat is poised to play a pivotal role in the transition from solar energy systems toward green hydrogen and green ammonia, both considered essential components for achieving long-term energy self-sufficiency.

Speaking on Surat’s rapid urban transformation, the Prime Minister praised the city’s progress and its emergence as a model Green City. He highlighted Surat’s circular water economy framework and the Waste to Wealth initiative, describing it as a mass movement that has evolved over the past 12 years.

Upon arrival in Surat, the Prime Minister also visited Hazira, where he reviewed ongoing industrial operations and infrastructure development projects, underscoring the region’s growing strategic importance in India’s industrial and economic landscape.
