Best Man Collapses Mid-Wedding in Texas as Ceremony Continues, Viral Video Sparks Debate
A wedding ceremony in Texas went viral after best man Drayton Williams fainted during the event while standing behind the groom. Despite his collapse, the celebrant continued speaking, sparking online debate. The TikTok video has surpassed seven million views and generated thousands of reactions and comments worldwide.
The incident occurred during an outdoor wedding in Texas, where Drayton Williams, a 28-year-old businessman from Austin, was serving as the best man for a close friend. Williams later posted the footage on TikTok, where it quickly gained massive traction. He captioned the video with the remark, “Don’t lock your knees folks.”
The video shows Williams standing behind the groom during the ceremony, visibly swaying back and forth before abruptly falling forward with a loud thud. Guests can be seen reacting in shock as he hits the ground.
Despite the sudden collapse, the officiant continued conducting the ceremony without pause. In the recording, the celebrant is heard stating, “But when (love) is right, and it’s real, it becomes this steady thing,” as the situation unfolds.
The groom and another groomsman quickly moved to assist Williams, helping him back onto his feet. He was then steadied by fellow groomsmen while the bride and bridesmaids appeared visibly concerned. The groom briefly attended to Williams before returning to his position beside the bride as the ceremony proceeded.
The video has since generated more than seven thousand comments, with many social media users questioning why the ceremony was not paused to attend to the collapsed best man. Several viewers expressed confusion over the lack of immediate interruption, while others remarked on the uninterrupted continuation of the proceedings.
The incident also inspired a wave of online reactions, including a recreation by TikTok comedian Madison Humphrey, whose parody of the moment amassed over three million views within a day of being posted. Her video humorously replicated the wedding party’s reaction and the continuation of the ceremony.
Speaking to US media outlet Newsflare, Williams explained that he had locked his knees during the ceremony. He added that a combination of heat and nervousness contributed to his dizziness, which ultimately led to his collapse.
The viral moment has since sparked broader discussion about physical strain during formal ceremonies and the unpredictable nature of live events, where personal emergencies can unfold even as official proceedings continue.
