The Seattle consulate, which is India’s sixth consular mission in the United States, initially began operating from a temporary facility in November 2023. It subsequently commenced full consular services in July 2024, marking a structured expansion of its operational capacity within a short span of time.
Since the start of its full services, the consulate has served nearly 23,722 applicants, extending its outreach across nine U.S. states, including Washington State, Oregon, Alaska, and Idaho. The mission has emerged as a key administrative hub for consular services in the Pacific Northwest and adjoining regions, significantly improving accessibility for applicants across a wide geographic area.
The establishment and inauguration of the new chancery premises highlight the growing scale and institutional strengthening of India’s diplomatic presence in the United States.
