Vijay’s TVK Emerges as Largest Party in Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections with 108 Seats

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam led by Vijay emerges as the largest party in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, securing 108 seats with a 35% vote share. DMK wins 59 seats and AIADMK 47. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin loses his seat. Congress and smaller parties signal support as Vijay calls it a miracle election driven by youth and anti-money politics sentiment.

In a decisive and politically transformative outcome, Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections held on April 23, 2026, across the 234-seat House.

TVK secured 108 seats with a 35 percent vote share, surpassing its principal rivals, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which won 59 seats, and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), which secured 47 seats. The election results mark a significant reshaping of the state’s political landscape, positioning TVK at the forefront of governance formation.

A major political development followed the defeat of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, who lost his own assembly seat. Despite the setback, he was reported to have gracefully accepted the electoral mandate, signaling his role as part of the opposition in the new legislative configuration.

In the emerging post-poll scenario, both Congress and several smaller regional parties have indicated willingness to extend support, further strengthening TVK’s position in government formation discussions. Party founder Vijay described the outcome as a “miracle election,” attributing the mandate to youth participation and families rejecting money-driven politics.
