Punjab Under Yellow Alert as Dust Storms, Thunderstorms, and Temperature Drop Forecast

Punjab faces a yellow alert as thunderstorms, light rain, and dust storms are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday. Strong winds up to 50 kmph and a notable temperature drop are expected across multiple districts, with current temperatures already below seasonal averages.

Punjab is set to witness unstable weather conditions as the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday and Wednesday, warning of thunderstorms, light rainfall, and persistent dust storms across the state. The advisory highlights the likelihood of strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, accompanied by lightning and scattered showers.

On Monday, several districts experienced a mix of sunshine and continued dust-laden winds throughout the day, reflecting fluctuating atmospheric conditions. Bathinda recorded the highest daytime temperature at 36.7 degrees Celsius. Faridkot followed closely at 36.3 degrees Celsius, while Rupnagar registered 33.2 degrees Celsius. Ferozepur recorded 32.9 degrees Celsius, Ropar reported 32.2 degrees Celsius, Patiala measured 32 degrees Celsius, and Ludhiana recorded 31.8 degrees Celsius.

Despite these readings, the state’s maximum temperature remained significantly below normal, dropping by 6.4 degrees Celsius compared to seasonal averages. Meteorological officials have indicated that the expected weather activity over the next two days could lead to a further decline in temperatures by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.

The evolving weather pattern underscores a sharp deviation from typical conditions, with dust storms and intermittent rainfall shaping a volatile climate outlook. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as residents brace for strong winds and sudden temperature changes across Punjab.
